Requirements I am often asked to contribute or author UI requirements. Requirements when existing are thoroughly reviewed and checked for user experience gaps. Gaps are things which can cause users to get stuck or confused in the middle of an interaction. An astute UI designer should be able to spot problem areas before any effort is expended creating designs. Also, features that are user-oriented may need to be pointed out and included in the requirements in order to ensure that the UI is intuitive and usable.

Situation Assessment (SA) Requirements

Initiating SAs:
  • The user, usually the Brand Manager, selects the SA(s) and initiates them by selecting the author, reviewer and due date.
  • The authors and reviewers could be any user in the system, including agency executives.
  • The authors get an e-mail notification about the SA with a link to it in the system.
  • The user who initiates the SA, is the reviewer by default.

Concepts & ConceptingConcepts are often wrapped into the Prototyping phase, but when a client needs a lot of alternate choices concepting can be considered its own phase. Creating alternative designs provides the best perspective of the possibilities and serves as a way to elicit unstated preferences on the part of our clients.
